A Progressive Movement

Inter generational poverty, is a cycle of poverty, that persists from one generation to the next. Due to the lack of resources, education and services, it disproportionately impacts minority and poor communities.  The iHeart Realty Foundation was founded by Nina Briscoe in 2014.  Her vision was to revitalize impoverished urban communities and to empower those that have been deprived of financial literacy and the right to safe, affordable neighborhoods and services. The iHeart Realty Foundation currently serves Districts 1, 2 and 4, employing over 30 local contractors. We have reduced blight by rehabbing over 50 properties. Several families have purchased or leased our newly rehabbed homes. By improving the economical living conditions of the underprivileged, providing financial literacy and job training, we will combat inter generational poverty in our Detroit Communities.
